The Braidense National Library, preserves the second collection in the world of Bodonian editions and memorabilia, recalls through this publication the illustrious typographer, founder of modern typography, presents a series of documents that testify to the relationships between Bodoni, the city and the political-cultural environment of Milan at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as his memory well alive in the Braidense collections.
The volume also documents the survival of the Bodonian typographic lesson throughout the twentieth century up to the present day and specifically of the Bodoni character which, due to the geometric linearity of the design and the very contrasted chiaroscuro, is considered the most faithful expression of the neoclassical style, a model of elegance, purity and Italianness.
